No ads should automatically take you to the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or, to any another website, unless you click on the ad.

If there is an ad that does automatically re-direct you to another site, or, that plays audio when you have your phone set to silent, then this is a rogue ad. It has not been authorized by Hornet and it should not be shown on our app.

The way that advertising works on apps is complicated and there is no need to bore you with the fine detail. The short answer is that these rogue ads do sometimes happen. We are always working to find them and remove them from the app. We remove many of them before they are even seen by our customers. However, because we serve many thousands of millions of ads every month, it’s hard for us to find them all and we need your help to track them down.

The information we need from you depends on the type of rogue ad:

  • If it is re-directing you to another website or to the app store, we need the URL (the web address) of the site you are being taken to.
  • If you are hearing audio, even when your phone is set to silent, what is the company name that is being advertised in the audio, or, what is the song/tune that you are hearing?

We also need to know the country you are in and if it is on Android or iOS. A screenshot of the ad, or the website you are taken to, is also very beneficial to us.

Please go here to report the rogue ad.

If you cannot find a solution in our FAQ, please write to us at feedback@hornet.com. It is important that you include your Account ID in the email, so that we can trace your account. Your Account ID is on your profile and begins with the ‘@’ symbol.
