Last Saturday night, Oct. 28, saw a Halloween party for the record books as famed Minneapolis party Flip Phone invited RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 vet Aja to tear up the stage at the city’s legendary First Avenue (which you may remember from Prince’s Purple Rain). The dance party, dubbed “Strange Things,” featured DJ Shannon Blowtorch and DJ Fancy Restaurant, several local queens and a meet-and-greet that allowed Aja’s fans to get up close and personal.

Flip Phone promoter Chad Kampe tells us that booking Aja for his party’s Halloween celebration was an easy decision, as she had performed at their Pride event only a few months prior and slayed the crowd. Aja’s upcoming performance on All Stars 3, announced only a week and a half ago, also has fans excited to see more from the Brooklyn queen.

Aja treated the crowd — nearly 1,600 people — to numerous routines and looks, including a pumpkin, a clown hobo and a sexy cat whose getup featured the words “Rest in Pussy.” (See those looks in the below photos.)

Much of the crowd was decked out in their Halloween best, and the party featured a costume contest with prizes including $500 cash. The night’s big winner was a partier dressed up as David Bowie’s Goblin King from the movie Labyrinth.
