A crowd of pro-LGBTQ protesters chased former North Carolina governor Pat McCrory and some of his friends down an alley at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. last week.

The protesters recognized McCrory on the sidewalk and began to shout “Shame on you! You anti-gay bigot! You’re a bigot and an asshole!” and “You’re not a man! You’re a coward!” at McCrory’s group, which also included Fox News pundit Lou Dobbs. McCrory’s group scurried down a nearby alley but found their escape cut off by a locked door. There, the protesters cornered McCrory’s group and chanted, “Shame! Shame! Shame!” until the police came.

At no point did the protesters physically interact with McCrory’s group.

Power-hungry transphobe Pat McCrory earned the ire of LGBTQ rights activists last year for supporting North Carolina’s infamous HB2 law, which bans trans people from using bathrooms that match their gender identities.
