The US State Department chose a lobbying group listed as an anti-LGBTQ hate group by civil rights activists to attend a UN commission on women’s rights.

The group in question is the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-FAM). The Southern Poverty Law Center calls the organization an anti-LGBTQ hate group.

C-FAM’s leader Austin Ruse has called for homosexuality to be criminalized, NBC notes. And despite touting itself as a pro-Christian, pro-family organization, C-FAM has collaborated with Iranian and Chinese government officials in order to try to fight against LGBTQ rights in other countries.

And yet, the US State Department has chosen C-FAM to attend the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women, a global organization devoted to promoting women’s rights.

Once again, Trump has shown that his claim to be pro-LGBTQ is nothing but hot air. Shame on anyone who believed it.
