In addition to being a long-term sexual harasser, Bill O’Reilly also has a history of spewing hate against the LGBTQ community.

Against Marriage Equality

Bill O’Reilly spent years speaking out against same-sex marriage. NY Mag collected a series of O’Reilly’s anti-gay marriage statements. Here are just a few of them:

  • 2004: “If you open the door for gay marriage, then you have to have the polygamists and the triads and the commune people and everybody else, right?”
  • 2005: “We told you this would happen, if gay marriage is legalized, then much chaos would follow.”
  • 2012: “Unlike abortion nobody gets hurt when gays marry but it does have deep implications for what kind of society we want to be. Therefore, individual states should decide the question.”

In 2016, O’Reilly said he was “outraged” that the U.S. Supreme Court overturned California’s same-sex marriage ban Prop 8.

Against Anti-Discrimination Measures

In 2015, Bill O’Reilly denounced anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ when he said that making a Christian pizza shop owner serve a gay customer was like forcing a black person to attend a KKK rally.

That same year, O’Reilly compared opponents of Indiana’s infamous anti-LGBTQ “religious freedom” law (you know, the one that almost killed the state’s economy) to terrorists who attack Christians in Kenya.

Unsurprisingly, Bill O’Reilly is not an ally to the trans community. He called equal access to restrooms for trans people an “insane program” that “violated” other people’s rights.

(Though O’Reilly apparently thinks it’s not a violation to call up a colleague and graphically describe how you want to have sex with her in the shower.)

The Future of Bill O’Reilly

At the moment, Bill O’Reilly’s future on the Fox News network looks uncertain. His show, The O’Reilly Factor, was popular, but the recent sexual harassment suits against him have cost his employers millions of dollars. Plus, dozens of advertisers have pulled out of his show, hurting his profitability.

But whether or not he’s on the air, we’re sure he’ll keep spewing anti-LGBTQ hate for a long time.

Update21st Century Fox has announced that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to Fox News.
