‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Cast Reunites for Show’s 20th Anniversary (Video)
This is not a drill. The entire cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunited for the show’s 20th anniversary and there is video to prove it.
During its seven seasons on television, Buffy The Vampire Slayer told the story of Buffy Summers, the latest in a line of young women who are “called” (chosen by fate) to battle against vampires, demons and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches and trains her.
The Scooby Gang was all there to celebrate the show’s 20th birthday. Actually, that’s a lie. Not everyone was there. Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) and Eliza Dushku (Faith) both were missing.
But stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter, Allyson Hannigan and Seth Green gathered for Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue. In a video segment filmed during the cover shoot, the cast and crew reflect on the show’s legacy and why it was such a huge success.
“It’s the ultimate metaphor: horrors of adolescence manifesting through these actual monsters,” says star Sarah Michelle Gellar. “It’s the hardest time of life.”
Some of our favorite sound bites from the video were:
“I’m so incredibly proud of what we all created. Sometimes you need distance to really understand the gravitas of that. I appreciate everything about that job. As an actor, all you ever want to do is leave your mark — you want to do something that affects people.” – Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy Summers
