The Central Michigan University College Republicans apologized for handing out Hitler-themed Valentine’s Day cards at a party.

The cards had a picture of Adolph Hitler on them with the caption “my love 4 u burns like 6,000 jews.” And if the gross Anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial weren’t enough, the lettering was in comic sans.

Unsurprisingly, a few students were horrified by the joke. They posted images of the offending cards on Facebook. The post was taken down, but not before the image went viral and made headlines.

Soon after, the College Republicans realized they’d made a mistake and posted an apology on their Facebook page:

College conservatives complain that people don’t like them. They can’t seem to understand why their classmates keep calling them racist. Well, guys, maybe being the kind of people who think that the Holocaust was funny and romantic could be why.
