With all the bad news in the world coming from police, every once in a while, it’s nice to be able to share something like this:

That’s Virginia Sheriff’s Deputy Deuntay Diggs absolutely owning Beyonce’sFormation” at the North Stafford High School homecoming rally.

And it gets better — 2nd Lieutenant Diggs is gay, out and proud. He was one of the first openly gay cadets and he is the first gay police officer at his station.

Not only that, but Lt. Diggs’ sheriff’s office engages in community policing — the idea that police officers should be members of their community first and foremost. (You might recognize it from old-timey movies where cops walk the streets and help children getting kites out of trees.) So, not only can Lt. Diggs cut a rug, he’s working to make the very concept of policing in America better.

We salute you, Lt. Diggs… we also hope you don’t challenge us to a dance contest because You. Will. Win. Immediately.
