Dan Savage Says ‘I Fucking Hate Melania Trump,’ Conservatives Cry ‘Bully’

On his podcast, gay rights activist Dan Savage blasted the First Lady, saying, “I fucking hate Melania Trump.” Now conservatives are crying that he’s a bully.

Savage has long been an outspoken critic of anti-gay Republicans. He made homophobic conservative Rick Santorum’s name into a slang word for post-sodomy butt juice. He runs Impeach the Motherfucker Already, a website dedicated to encouraging Americans to, well, impeach that motherfucker Donald Trump already.

The Savage Remarks

And on a recent episode of the Savage Lovecast, Savage let loose on Donald Trump’s trophy wife. “God knows there’s enough hate in the world and I don’t want to add to the sum total, but forgive me, I have got to get this off my chest: I fucking hate Melania Trump,” he said.

He added, “I’m not alone in loathing Donald Trump’s third wife — she’s married to a misogynist after all. Odds are good her husband hates her too.”

He went on to slam the people who feel sorry for her, like the ones behind the “Free Melania” campaign:

There are some folks on the left who not only don’t hate her, they view her as some sort of sympathetic figure. The pretty princess in the tower locked up by the orange ogre with the bad combover, a princess desperately blinking out distress signals during swearing-in ceremonies and inaugural balls.

But, Savage says, that pity is misplaced. He brought up Melania’s support for the “birther” conspiracy theory that claimed Obama was not truly American:

Mrs. Trump, Melania Trump is as ugly on the inside as she is pretty on the outside. She is a birther. Pretty Melania went on TV to push the same racist conspiracy theories about Barack Obama that her husband did. She’s an immigrant who doesn’t give a shit about the plight of other immigrants.

The Conservative Response

Conservatives, unsurprisingly, are hurt. They’re calling Savage a bully for his comments. They claim he’s hypocritical for insulting Melania while running a campaign designed to protect LGBTQ children from bullying.

But Melania Trump is not a vulnerable child. She’s an adult with access to immense power and billions of dollars. Attacking a powerful, wealthy individual is not bullying — it’s literally the opposite.

They had a similar response when Nordstrom dropped Ivanka Trump’s fashion line for lagging sales.

If anyone’s bullying Melania Trump, it’s probably her pussy-grabbing husband.
