Twitter Suspended Former KKK Leader David Duke for a Few Hours, But He’s Back

Microblogging platform Twitter suspended former KKK leader David Duke this morning, but it brought him back in the afternoon.

It’s unclear why Duke was suspended from Twitter in the first place. He and his followers blamed the Jews, predictably.

Twitter has rules against hate speech and harassment, but it doesn’t actually enforce them. The site tolerates vicious white supremacists who make graphic violent threats against women, people of color and LGBTQ people. But it bans anyone who uses harsh language against these same white supremacists.

So while it was a pleasant surprise to find out that Duke was gone, it’s no surprise that he’s back.
