Christmas Movies and Blockbusters: What’s Coming to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon in December 2017

Ho Ho Ho! The holiday season has begun, so what better time to settle in for some December streaming of film and TV favorites! Of course, there are a number of Christmas movies (and, thanks to Netflix, a collection of “New Year’s Eve countdown” shows) — but if you’re a bit Santa’d out, we’ve got some prime choices for you to check out!

Christmas movies for December streaming

If there’s nothing you love more than getting all cozy with a Christmas movie, you’re more than covered. In fact, there might not be enough time in all of December to watch every Christmas-related title that’s coming to the three streaming giants.

Tim Allen stars in the Santa Clause trilogy (Netflix, December 12). Season 5 of The Great Christmas Light Fight (Hulu, December 5) premieres too, if you’d like to watch people go all-out in decorating their houses.

For little kids too young to stay up all night on New Year’s Eve, Netflix is dropping a number of children’s “New Year’s Eve Countdown” specials for All Hail King Julien, Beat Bugs, Larva, Pororo, Puffin Rock, Skylanders Academy, Trollhunters, True and the Rainbow Kingdom and Word Party (all December 26). New seasons of All Hail King Julien (December 1) and Trollhunters (December 15) are also coming.

But if you ask us what we’re most excited for? That’d be Pottersville (Netflix, December 15), the utterly bonkers furry-related Christmas movie starring Michael Shannon, Christina Hendricks, Ian McShane and Judy Greer.

 

More movies and shows to check out

The biggest movie coming to streaming is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Netflix, December 5). Also coming is The Pope of Greenwich Village (Hulu, December 1), Apocalypse Now (Amazon and Hulu, December 1 for the original cut; the 2001 Redux version is available the same day, but only on Hulu), Nightcrawler (Amazon, December 10) and season 6 of Teen Wolf (Amazon, December 23).

Stand up comedy fans will want to keep an eye out for The History of Comedy (Hulu, December 1), plus new Netflix specials from Todd Barry (December 26), Craig Ferguson (December 5), Russell  Howard (December 19) and Dave Chappelle (December 31).

 

Watch them before they’re gone

Thankfully, this month is pretty light when it comes to things going away. You’ll want to make sure to watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Netflix, December 9) before the entire series goes away. Be sure to catch Clueless (Hulu, December 31), Election (Hulu, December 31) and Young Frankenstein (Netflix, December 1) while you still can, too!
