Netizens uncovered a clip from a 2003 Howard Stern interview in which Donald Trump seemed to want his mistress Marla Maples to abort the pregnancy that eventually became their daughter Tiffany.
Back in the 1990s, Marla Maples announced that had an unexpected pregnancy. Trump’s words suggest that he was not happy about it. Based what he said in the interview, he did not want the child to be born:
But you know at the time, it was like, “Excuse me, what happened?” And then I said, “Well, what are we going to do about this?” She said, “Oh, are you serious? This is the most beautiful day of our lives.” I said, “Oh great.”
“What are we going to do about this?” he asked. It’s a vague statement with ambiguous meaning, but it’s clear Trump viewed the pregnancy as a problem to be solved, not a joyous event. One way to solve that problem? Abortion.
Trump didn’t say it out loud, but a straight guy usually doesn’t in this situation. Instead, he’ll say something euphemistic like, “Are you going to keep it?” or, as Trump said, “What are we going to do about this?”
Maples evidently reacted to Trump’s statement with shock: “Are you serious? This is the most beautiful day of our lives.” Unlike Trump, she was happy about the pregnancy, and wanted to keep the child.
Trump’s response was a sarcastic, “Oh great.”
Despite his opposition, Tiffany Trump was born, and now Donald Trump pretends to be pro-life.
