Meet the 6 Social Media Stars Getting a Makeover on This Week’s Episode of ‘Drag Race’
This week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the makeover challenge, and the show’s producers have opted to feature some kings of social media. But since we didn’t recognize all of them as they walked into the workroom, you may not be familiar with their work either. So here we’ve rounded up the six social media stars of Drag Race season 10 episode 10 for you.
1. Anthony Padilla – Team Kameron Michaels
In 2006 Padilla created Smosh, a sketch comedy YouTube channel with his friend Ian Andrew Hecox. Smosh would grow to become one of the most influential channels on YouTube, and today it has 22 million subscribers and nearly 7 billion views. On June 14, 2017, Padilla announced he would be leaving Smosh to pursue independent video ventures due to a “lack in creative freedom.” Today he is still creating irreverent content on his own channel, which has more than 2.6 million subscribers.
2. Kingsley – Team Aquaria
Kingsley is a YouTube personality, comedian and blogger. He has almost 3 million subscribers on YouTube and his videos have been viewed over 349 million times. In 2014 he also hosted his own podcast, which debuted at #2 on iTunes.
3. Raymond Braun – Team Asia O’Hara
Raymond Braun is an LGBT activist and media personality who has worked with The Advocate, Logo and GLAAD. His latest project, Catfish: Trolls, is set to air on MTV sometime later this year. The reality series will be hosted by Braun along with Charlamagne Tha God, and it will follow the pair as they try to put a stop to one of the most annoying nuisances plaguing our social media-obsessed society: internet trolls.
4. Tyler Oakley – Team Monet X Change
Probably the most famous of these Drag Race Season 10 Episode 10 social media stars, Tyler Oakley is best known for the YouTube channel he started in 2007. Now his channel has nearly 8 million subscribers and his videos have been watched more than 650 million times. His global influence got him featured on the Forbes “30 Under 30” power list in 2017.
5. Chester See – Team Miz Cracker
Chester See is a famous YouTuber with 1,700,000 subscribers to his channel. As of May 2018 his videos have amassed more than 226 million views. A singer and musician, he starred in Rock of Ages on Broadway back in 2014.
6. Frankie Grande – Team Eureka O’Hara
Frankie Grande is best known for his stint on Big Brother back in 2014. Also the older half-brother of Ariana Grande, he has appeared on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and Rock of Ages. His social media clout is most prolific on Instagram, where he has 1.7 million followers. He also has another 1.1 million followers on Twitter.
