MTV EMA 2017: Check the Most Memorable Looks From This Year’s European Music Awards
If you think MTV’s Video Music Awards has outlandish fashion, just wait until you see these looks from the annual European Music Awards. The EMA, as they’re called, started out as an alternative to the VMAs but — natch — focusing on acts from the other side of the pond. The EMA always attract big celebrities wearing ridiculously crazy outfits, and this year’s EMA 2017 were no exception.
Rita Ora, best known as the former host of the America’s Next Top Model reboot in the United States, emceed this year’s show. A fashion chameleon, Ora outdid herself with 13 costume changes throughout the night, each one charming us with her unique fashion sense.
Going into the ceremony, Taylor Swift led the night with six nominations. Shawn Mendes ended up the big winner, though, taking home four EMA statues, while Kendrick Lamar picked up the most coveted trophy of the night, Best Video.
But as with nearly any awards show, the awards themselves are secondary to looks on the red carpet. And like the VMAs, EMA is a less-stuffy event with no strict rules about what artists can and can’t wear as they make their way down the red carpet. So, of course, most people have fun with it.
Jared Leto, for example, strut down the red carpet sporting Gucci’s Cruise 2018 ensemble, including a pink blouse, track pants and distressed python sneakers. Rapper Travis Scott gave us an athleisure look, while Swae Lee rocked a Louis Vuitton “Keepall 55 Bandoulière” as part of his street-influenced outfit.
With so many great looks to choose from, here are but a few of our favorites from the EMA 2017.
