Following Trump Threats, Clinton Campaign Goes For Jugular

Rest easy, progressives: Donald Trump has not stopped behaving like a criminally insane psychopath. If anything, this week he’s gone even further off the deep end, while the Clinton campaign runs circles around him like the Harlem Globetrotters taunting the Washington Generals.

There were two insane highlights from Trump’s warped mind in the last week: First, he freestyled a comment about gun violence as a solution to President Hillary Clinton’s Supreme Court nominees. Then he accused Hillary and Obama of being the founders of Daesh/ISIS. What?

“Hillary wants to abolish — essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump said. “By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know,” Trump said. The statement was condemned by just about everyone, including the daughter of Martin Luther King Jr, the daughter of Ronald Reagan (who narrowly survived an assassination attempt in the 1980s) and the daughter of a Sandy Hook shooting victim.

Like everything Trump says, it’s difficult to know exactly what he meant. But the Secret Service apparently understood the meaning to be threatening enough to pay a visit to the campaign.

That tweet was followed by a statement that “There has been more than one conversation.”

That was confirmed by multiple sources, but Trump doesn’t seem to know what’s going on in his own organization.

Okay, dude, if you say so.

And then there was the Daesh remark. It happened Friday morning when he said that Obama and Hillary Clinton are Daesh founders, drawing shock from a radio interviewer. “I meant he’s the founder of ISIS. I do,” Trump said. “He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”

That didn’t go over too well with anyone, so he backtracked a bit.

“Obviously I’m being sarcastic,” he told another rally, but added “but not that sarcastic, to be honest with you.” Well, that certainly clears things up!

We all knew that Trump enjoys delusions, but this one is one of his weirdest. Does he actually believe that they’re the founders? Who knows. Who knows what he thinks, because he seems to be holding an argument with himself whenever he opens his mouth.

Hillary, meanwhile, has had to do very little to take advantage of Trump’s ongoing meltdown. She released an economic plan this week that was designed to make Trump look bad, targeting what she calls “the Trump loophole” that protects the rich and hurts everyone else. “He would give trillions in tax cuts to big corporations, millionaires, and Wall Street money managers,” she said.

She also released a bunch of tax details, showing that she paid about 30% of her income in taxes last year. That puts a lot more pressure on Trump to release his — something he’s concocted all manner of excuses to avoid doing. This means that Hillary has a bit more ammunition when she goes after him for being untrustworthy. She has nothing financial to hide — does he?
