Leather queens, rubber queens, drag queens and furries; guys and girls in harnesses, chainmail, feathers, fringe and nothing at all; skimpy G-strings, gold chains, uniforms and dapper gents; people with pets, people in metal torture gear, gimp masks and dinosaur drag; cosplayers, puppy players, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and our trans brothers and sisters — they all made it out to Folsom 2017, the world’s sexiest street fair.
On Sunday, Sept. 24, throngs of people gathered at the world’s largest leather event, which also happens to be the third largest event in all of California. From 11 a.m.–6 p.m., the SoMa district of San Francisco was packed to the gills with Folsom newbies and pros alike. If you’ve never been to the Folsom Street Fair before, it’s a friendly event where you’re sure to witness all the outlandish and kinky fun you’ve ever dreamed of.
In addition to Sunday’s electric street celebration, Folsom weekend is always full of parties and bar events that take place throughout the weekend. SoMa bars including the Eagle, Lone Star Saloon, The Stud and Oasis welcome locals and tourists through its doors. It’s really just an electrifying weekend to be present in San Francisco.
For those who attended Folsom 2017 — and also those who couldn’t make it out to the Bay Area this year — we tasked L.A.-based photographer Dusti Cunningham to document the annual street fair for us. We think he captured the true essence of Folsom, from its diverse array of attendees — possibly the most varied group of people you’ll ever find in a square mile — to the kinky fun that takes place throughout the day.
