It’s officially a new dawn for the gay app, as today Hornet — the world’s premier gay social network, boasting more than 25 million users worldwide — has announced the launch of its much-anticipated Version 4.0. This new and improved version of the gay app does something that has never been done before: It combines gay men’s interest in meeting and connecting to other guys with their desire for breaking news and pop culture.

Hornet Version 4.0 is the latest update to a gay app that has seen many changes of late. Earlier this summer Hornet folded two already successful websites — news and lifestyle blog Unicorn Booty and LGBT travel site Vespa — into one centralized app, meaning Hornet users not only get access to millions of guys around the world but also hundreds of articles each week (spanning news, culture, entertainment, health and travel) and the biggest directory of gay bars and parties worldwide.

The app has officially become the most useful tool for any gay guy, anywhere in the world.

Starting today, as Version 4.0 rolls out to Hornet users internationally, users who open the app will find a brand-new interface that divides everything they’re looking for into Guys, Stories and Places.

Hornet remains the best gay app on the market for connecting to, chatting with and meeting guys around the globe. With the Explore feature, Hornet users are able to peruse the guys in any country, city or neighborhood anywhere in the world. And users can filter their grid to include only guys of certain ages or interests.

Hornet users’ individual profiles feature the most user-friendly design of any gay app out there. The Hornet user can upload more than one photo of himself to his profile (as opposed to only a single photo on other apps). And Hornet is the only app that lets users take a photo or share a photo from your gallery and post it to your feed — without swapping out your profile photo!

When a Hornet user heads to Stories (just an easy slide away from the grid of guys), he’s treated to a ton of articles written by Hornet’s international newsroom. (That’s right, we have a content team that stretches every continent!) Users will find it easy to stay updated on the latest in news, politics, nightlife, sex and travel — and everything in between.

And when Hornet users come across a story that’s worth sharing, not only can it be posted to social media platforms quickly and easily, but by “liking” the story in the app it gets posted to your Hornet profile and will appear in the feed of everyone who follows you. Hornet articles also make for great conversation-starters!

In Version 4.0 of Hornet, the app’s huge database of gay-friendly clubs, cruising bars, gyms, hotels and more are right at users’ fingertips. Whether you’re in your own city and are looking to check out a new club for a night of dancing, or whether you’re visiting a brand-new city and need to get the lay of the land, Hornet serves up an easy to navigate roster of options, sorted by distance from you.

Hornet is available for free on iOS, Android and on the web.
