Gay Bashing Outside of NYC McDonald’s
The West Village McDonald’s may be one of the gayest fast food restaurants in the world. You’d maybe want to go with the Capitol Hill McDonald’s in Seattle, but to be honest, it’s really more First Hill, and there’s a methadone clinic across the street. But that’s neither here nor there…
Back to New York. Damian Furtch, a 26-year-old gay man was savagely beaten by two patrons of a Greenwich Village McDonald’s at 4:30 AM. Furtch was picking up something to eat at McD’s after getting off work, when he noticed two men staring at him. Furtch felt unsafe enough to call a friend in the middle of the night while he left the restaurant, and was followed by the two men.
They approached Furtch and asked him “if he had a problem” (Editor: I would suggest McNuggets after midnight are a problem in general). The two men proceeded to punch him in the head and face multiple times, all the while calling him a “faggot.”
Furtch managed to escape and make his way to an area hospital, where police were called. His injuries were so severe that he needed stitches to secure his eyelid, and his nose had to be broken by doctors in order to set it properly. Ouch.
Catching at least one of the two assailants is made less difficult by the giant tattoo of a Gothic cross on his face, under his left eye. WWJD? Beat gays and get a face tattoo, it seems. The two men are wanted by police for committing a violent hate crime. If you have any information about the attack, or know any face-cross-tattooed assholes, you should get in touch with NYC police right away.
Ugh. For the record, Greenwich Village is probably one of the safest and most open-minded neighborhoods in the country. In a city with 10 million people, the Village has a murder rate of zero. ZERO. It sucks that these asshats didn’t get the memo that violent bigots are the ones “with the problem” in the Village, not the gay residents that make the neighborhood such a vibrant and diverse place to live.
