7de Laan, an Afrikaans soap opera that has run on the South African Broadcasting Corporation for 17 years, finally aired its first same-sex kiss this week, to the appreciation of several longtime fans  The show, named after a popular street in the Melville section of Johannesburg, has an estimated 1.8 million viewers per episode and has won Best Soap Opera at the South African Film and Television Awards in 2014, 2011 and 2010.

For those of you who don’t watch the show, here’s how the kiss went down:

In the episode, Oppiekoffie waitresses Amorey (Kristen Raath) and Petro (Carla van der Merwe), who’ve both had a crush on handsome Logan (Simon Tuit), find out that he’s actually gay when he kisses his husband, Divan (Arnu de Villiers), in front of them.

Logan and Divan are apparently in a rocky marriage with Divan talking to a divorce lawyer just before Logan enters the restaurant.

Their scene starts at 14:15 in the video below (though if you just wanna skip directly to the action, jump to 15:22):

We love seeing the two studly dudes kiss, almost as much as we like seeing the waitresses’ reaction:

All the good ones really are taken or gay … or both.
