On last night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Hillary Clinton stopped by to discuss her new book What Happened and to discuss her 2016 presidential election loss.

When Colbert asked Clinton about writing her book, she answered, “It wasn’t easy. It was painful. It was horrible, reliving it. And, you know, being as candid, open as I could be about the mistakes I made, and talking about those.”

“But also trying to come to grips, as I write in the book, about everything from sexism and misogyny to voter suppression to the unusual behavior of the former Director of the FBI, and the Russians. And the Russians.”

Colbert also brought up Clinton’s crutch that helped her get over her loss. “One of the things you said in the book, in recovering from this and while writing the book you leaned heavily on Chardonnay. Would you care for a glass?”

Colbert not only gifted Clinton a bottle of Chardonnay to toast her, but also a packet of jokes that were written in case Clinton won.

“We had a whole packet of unused Clinton victory jokes. This was a whole other script we wrote in case you won including a really, really nice video shot by Katy Perry.”

“One of the things we were going to do to celebrate a woman in charge is that we were going to have naked men on the stage,” Colbert said.

“I don’t think we can show this at home,” he added. Explaining to the audience that “across their butts it says, ‘I’m With Her.’”

Colbert ended the funny segment with a sentiment a lot of us share as well, of course.

He said: “I wish we could have told those jokes. I wish you were our president.”
