Sure, there are probably worse places our mind could go than thinking about Wolverine’s penis, but there are no doubt more productive places, too.
Hugh Jackman, the Aussie actor who has portrayed your favorite hairy X-Man nine times on the big screen, ending with his recent turn in the critically acclaimed flick Logan, has got us thinking naughty things about a short-and-hairy comic book character.
Yesterday the Hollywood Reporter unearthed a 2009 conversation between Jackman and Howard Stern. Apparently during the filming of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Jackman went completely nude for the scenes in which his character escapes the facility where his bones were covered in adamantium. He was offered the chance to cover up his bits with a cock sock, but he decided against it, saying, “It’s just like college.” (We aren’t completely sure what the hell that means, but now we wish we went to university in Australia.)
The footage of Jackman running around nude of course didn’t make it into the film, which had a PG-13 rating, but Jackman tells Stern he’s not afraid to show his penis on film. (That pesky Hollywood ratings system!)
Most interestingly, though, Jackman told Stern a story that piqued our interest: when X-Men Origins: Wolverine wrapped, as a gift, director Gavin Hood actually gave Jackman all the film of those X-rated moments:
When we finished the film, my wrap gift from the director was a bag which had all the film cut off with my dick in it. So, I got frames of film, and I am looking, going, “OK, hello!”
Stern also asked Jackman about the size of his mutant man meat, to which Jackman replied, “It’s pretty good, I think. I’m fine.”
Wolverine’s Penis: Cut or Uncut?
Speaking of Wolverine’s penis, though, a Reddit user by the name of TheCaptain5000 brings up an interesting point of discussion: Due to Wolverine’s regenerative powers, does that mean Wolverine is uncircumcised? (Yep, we’re thinking big things over here!)
After giving it a lot of thought, we can’t know for sure, and here’s why:
One of Wolverine’s powers is regeneration. If he gets cut, the scar heals within seconds. Circumcision, technically, is a cut like any other.
But most ‘cut’ guys get circumcised as a baby, and as we know, mutants don’t gain their powers until reaching puberty.
So then the question becomes, Was Wolverine circumcised as a child? There’s debate about that over on Reddit, too. Some point out that as the child of an upper-class Protestant family in 1800s Canada, he would have been. Others say Canadian Protestants didn’t circumcise their kids back then.
If Wolverine wasn’t circumcised as a kid, then he’s very obviously uncircumcised as an adult. Duh. But even if he was circumcised as a baby, would his powers have retroactively healed the circumcision? Maybe yes, maybe no. I guess we’ll never know.
And not to get too meta, but what about that time Hugh Jackman claims he nearly castrated himself with those Wolverine claws?
