The ‘Hurricane Bianca 2’ Trailer Is Jam-Packed With Celebrity Cameos and Laughs Galore

This post is also available in: Español

The trailer for Hurricane Bianca: From Russia With Hate is here, and it’s jam-packed full of drag queen talent and celebrity cameos. The world premiere of the film is happening in San Francisco on May 14, with an additional screening scheduled in New York City on May 15. The film officially comes out May 18, and will be released on digital platforms worldwide.

We’re gagging over all the drag queens and celebrities who participated in this project, the sequel to the 2016 film Hurricane Bianca that won audiences over with its heartwarming storyline of a teacher fired for being gay and returning as a drag queen. In addition to Roy Haylock (Bianca Del Rio), the sequel stars Rachel Dratch, Brian “Katya” McCook, D.J. “Shangela” Pierce, Doug Plaut, Molly Ryman, Dot-Marie Jones, Alicia Goranson (OG Becky from Roseanne), Darienne Lake, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Kristen Johnston, Cheyenne Jackson, Heather McDonald, Janeane Garofalo and Wanda Sykes.

Directed by Matt Kugelman, the film follows chemistry teacher Richard Martinez (Del Rio) after she sent her nemesis, Vice Principal Deborah “Debbie” Ward (Dratch), to jail in a flawlessly executed plan.

“When Debbie is released from jail, she conjures up a scheme to do away with Del Rio once and for all by luring her on a dangerous journey to Russia to accept a teaching award and cash prize,” a statement for the film explains.

“The Hurricane Bianca ‘she-quel’ is bigger than the first film in almost every way, but we were especially thrilled to assemble this brilliant cast to join Bianca on her latest adventure,” Kugelman tells Hornet. “From drag world legends like Shangela, Katya, Darienne Lake and more to comedy icons like Janeane Garofalo and Wanda Sykes, the film is bursting with hilarious characters and performances.”

Kugelman tells us about Hurricane Bianca: From Russia With Hate, “On a personal note, it was an honor to work with such talented actors who I’ve admired for many years. We can’t wait to share it with audiences worldwide on May 18, and it’s available for pre-order now on HurricaneBianca.com!”

The trailer is campy for sure. From some cheesy special effects to its over-the-top, kooky storyline, the film seems to be vying for a top spot on our list of favorite drag films of all time. With Del Rio’s special brand of crass humor and Kugelman’s directing, we’re confident this is a surefire hit with Drag Race enthusiasts and consumers of queer culture.
