During his weather forecast for New Orleans news station WGNO, hunky meteorologist Jason Disharoon reported the latest news involving Hurricane Katia, but with a RuPaul’s Drag Race twist.
Despite a one-letter difference, Disharoon grabbed hold of the opportunity to pay tribute to one of Drag Race’s superstar alumni, Katya Zamolodchikova.
Obviously a fan of the series, Disharoon tweeted: “With #Katia in the Gulf, I couldn’t help but mention one of my favorite performers in my tropical update this morning @katya_zamo”
Accompanying his tweet was video of his weather forecast, brilliantly placing Katya’s headshot as the hurricane on the doppler radar.
“And finally, that leaves us with yet another Tropical Storm. This one, Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, but the national weather service just calls her Katia. She is currently spinning down in the Bay of Campeche, and over the course of the next several days she’s going to be continuing to kind of meander in the Gulf of Mexico. Now Katia does not jump for joy, she does frolic in self-doubt. Eventually, though, she will be turning away from the capitalistic shores of the United States only to make landfall in Mexico, thousands of miles from her native home in Russia. Should this path change we will be more than happy to bring you the updates as we go throughout the week.”
“Does not jump for joy, she does frolic in self-doubt” is one of Katya’s many taglines.
From his knowledge of her wit to his perfect pronunciation of her name, we’re assuming that Disharoon is a hardcore Drag Race stan and an even fiercer disciple of Katya’s.
