Have you ever wondered how sexually diseased your city is? Well Rentapplication.com has your answer. Earlier this month RentApplication.com created a map and list of the 100 most sexually diseased cities in the U.S.
The color-coded map ranks the amount of STDs per 100,000 people in each city’s population. Rentapplication.com only used cities with populations over 50,000 and only counted syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia as STDs used for the ranking. They also treated Washington D.C. as a city along with the separate boroughs in New York City.
The site concluded that cities with a strong military influence rank highest on their list. Three of the top 10 cities have major military bases including Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia, Fort Hood in Kileen Texas, and Fort Bragg in Fayetteville North Carolina ranking fifth, ninth, and tenth respectively. The most sexually diseased city in all the land is Montgomery, Alabama with over 4,300 STDs in total. Whoa — what’s going on there?
The original post says nothing about why RentApplication.com gathered the information and made it accessible on their website. Through an e-mail interview Ariel Ozick of RentApplication.com, she said, “We are doing ongoing research in all things related to cities, states, and neighborhoods.” She continued, “Our goal in the next year or so is to have a library of accessible reporting data so people can make informed decisions about where they choose to live.”
Ozick said she doesn’t think making this information public sways people from certain cities but it “just reminds them to use protection and get checked more often.”
Check out if (or where) your city ranks here. We’d also like to use the Madonna parody video below to remind you to wrap it up if you plan to get down.
