gay blog, gay news, gay friendly, Out My Window interactive documentary projectIf you are like many people in the world, you live in a high-rise apartment building. Or you have lived in one at some point in your life.  It’s one of the most common shared experiences in global urban life.

In fact, I am writing this as I look over into the building across the street. In the winter, the leaves fall from the branches and I have a front-row seat to a dozen different apartments.  There is the shaggy brunette girl who smokes a cigarette at sunrise in her bathrobe.  The Asian dude who never stops playing Xbox.  Or how about the lanky and slumsy drag queen that appeared on the roof next door with her diminutive sidekick?

Living in an apartment building is a voyeur’s paradise.

Documentary filmmaker and artist Katerina Cizek embarked from Canada to travel the world and document lives lived in expansive apartment buildings.  She seeks out people of all kinds, who have created lives in the expanse of concrete and glass.  Brazil, Cuba, and the USA are only some of the countries explored.

The website is a beautiful piece of work, allowing a truly insightful, interactive experience that brings you right into peoples’ lives that are so far removed from your own. BRILLIANT!
