At his confirmation hearing on Tuesday, US Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions said he’d uphold laws protecting same-sex marriage, even though he doesn’t agree with it.

Sessions, quoted in CNN, said:

We must continue to move forward and never back. I understand the demands for justice and fairness made by our LGBT community. I will ensure that the statutes protecting their civil rights and their safety are full enforced.

But can we trust him? Probably not. He spent years vehemently fighting LGBTQ rights. He doesn’t believe in marriage equality. He also has a history of racist conduct, though he says he’s totally not racist.
