Katy Perry Kissed a Boy Auditioning for ‘American Idol’ … and He Didn’t Like It
On the season premiere of American Idol, Katy Perry kissed a boy … and he didn’t like it.
“I was a tad bit uncomfortable,” Benjamin Glaze told The New York Times. “I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.”
While auditioning for the new season of Idol on ABC, Glaze revealed to the judges that he had never kissed a girl before and was waiting for a relationship. The judges asked him to approach the bench so Perry could give him a smooch, and when he went to kiss her cheek, she quickly turned her head to instead have his lips land on hers.
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” he said. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
But even though he felt uncomfortable with the kiss, the Times reports: “He said he does not feel he was sexually harassed and is grateful to Ms. Perry for tweeting about him.”
“It was a forced sexual act,” one viewer posted in reply to the kiss on Twitter: “Imagine if this was from a male judge. Has @katyperry not taken anything from the #metoo movement?”

Another wrote, “#AmericanIdol shame on you for your take on this! He was there to sing not to get a kiss from someone who has kissed how many lips? His first kiss was supposed to be special! Now it is has been destroyed! @katyperry needs to keep her body parts to herself!”
Another added: “Everyone is not star struck by status or beauty. How about his conservative beliefs and how he was raised. It counts; we are all not cut from the same cloth and each person’s beliefs and standards should be respected whether agreed or not. Inappropriate.”
