Link Dons Drag in the New Zelda Game, and People Are Losing Their Minds
In Breath of the Wild, the latest installment of the popular Zelda series for the Nintendo Switch, there’s a brief moment in which the hero dresses in drag, and people are losing their minds over it.
In the game, Link must disguise himself as a Gerudo, a tribe of desert-dwelling man-hating female thieves.
“You make for quite a good-lookin’ gal!” the Gerudo trans woman tells Link.
It’s a brief sequence and just one of many costume changes available to Link during the game, but of course the internet is freaking out over it because that’s what the internet does.
Conservatives are angry at the game for promoting transgenderism.
But other fans are thrilled:

You: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is a 10/10 game!

But we shouldn’t be surprised by a little bit of gender-bending in the Zelda franchise. Ocarina of Time is queer as hell, featuring a cross-dressing love interest, a butch lesbian bodyguard and flamboyant drag queen Great Fairies.
