The inaugural edition of DragCon NYC, which took place Sept. 9 and 10 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, was certainly one for the record books. Tens of thousands of people packed the convention center to get an in-person glimpse of some of their favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants — and to buy their merch and get signed autographs. It’s a not-to-be-missed event for fans of drag and drag queens themselves.
Which is why Hornet enlisted the one and only Meatball — L.A.’s current reigning queen of garbage and competitor on the first season of Dragula — to hit the convention and terrorize New York City. Best of all, Meatball documented the entire experience for a little video we’ve put together called Hornet Presents: Meatball Takes Manhattan.
Watch as Meatball, a self-proclaimed horrible person, preps for her DragCon NYC debut and prepares her looks, which include a Jackie Kennedy getup (complete with blood) and a giant baby look. Watch as she makes her way to the big city and grabs ‘a slice’ with friends. And Watch as Meatball hits the convention floor to terrorize queens like Shea Couleé, Farrah Moan and Laila McQueen, plus a few poor, unsuspecting convention attendees. She also squeezes a few nightlife shenanigans into her trip.
It’s all here for you to see, documented for posterity’s hilarity’s sake.

Hornet was also present at the inaugural DragCon NYC to speak to the queens on the convention floor about their craziest fan interactions, good and bad, and social media trolls. Among those we chatted with are Sasha Velour, Todrick, Hall, Manila Luzon, Raja and James St. James. Head here to watch that video as well.
