Dr. Dre’s first album in sixteen years comes out today… but it’s not Detox, his long-awaited, long-planned third album. Instead, it’s Compton, an album inspired by the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Will we ever get to hear Detox? Don’t bet on it; as of August 1st, Detox has been officially scrapped.
Nirvana fans have had a great year. Montage of Heck, the feature film and the original tape by Kurt Cobain have been released, and now, something even weirder and rarer: the demo from Cobain’s first band Fecal Matter. Fecal Matter was made up of just Cobain on vocals and guitar and Melvins’ Dale Crover on drums, bass and backup vocals.
Noisey has speculated that it’s Dave Grohl himself behind the leaks, but Dave’s camp has denied the connection… but what if that’s just what Dave wants us to think??!?!
A year after Ferguson, Run The Jewels did an interview with BBC News about why riots work. They also talk about their own experiences playing on the night the Ferguson grand jury decision came down and Killer Mike’s moving speech that night. It’s only a three-minute interview, but it’s definitely worth watching.
