The Internet Is Abuzz With Talk of Pegging, the Act of a Man Bottoming for a Woman

Bottoming is not only for gay men, as straight men can, ahem, take it up the ass as well. The term is pegging, when a man is penetrated by his female partner during sex.

The term “pegged” was coined in 2001, when sex columnist Dan Savage challenged his readers to come up with a name for the sex act in which a woman uses a strap-on dildo to top her male partner. After multiple nominations and a reader vote, the verb “peg” was chosen with a 43% plurality over runners-up “bob” and “punt.”

SundayWorld, a South African newspaper that claims to create content for “the young, aspirational black consumer,” recently asked its readers about the sexual act of pegging, and one 27-year-old straight man described it as his preference.

The guy, who wants to be known only as Kamogelo, reveals, “My girlfriend has her own sexual preferences. Sometimes she wants me to just go down on her until she reaches orgasm because my penetration does not give her the same orgasm she gets from this.”

“So, when I introduced her to sex toys, she was fascinated. I told her I wanted to be penetrated with a dildo, and when she did it, I reached climax in the most satisfactory manner. I have never felt like that before; it was amazing,” says Kamogelo.

He says that at first his girlfriend assumed he was gay. “I assured her I would not be with her if I were gay,” he says. “I just enjoy sex when I’m being penetrated.”

Travey Cox, a leading ‘sexpert’ in the UK, recently noted in her column that “Pegging was the hottest sex trend in 2016, and far from being a fad is fast becoming something most couples try at least once.”

Back in 2015, gay blog PopBuzz interviewed 10 straight guys about their bottoming fantasies. 44-year-old Kent from Santa Fe, New Mexico, revealed he heard about the idea from straight buddies and loved it once he drank enough booze to try it:

I had heard about pegging from a buddy of mine who had been doing this with his girlfriend. At first I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. The idea of him being nailed by his girlfriend with a dildo just made me think he was kind of gay. Well, one night when I was drunk, I talked to my girlfriend about it. Before I knew it, I was bouncing on it like it was some kind of toy. And yo – I am in no way gay! Would I do it again? Probably, but I would need to drink again for it to happen. It was kind of the ultimate orgasm.

Brad, also 44, from Chicago, said, “Getting pegged really makes a man out of you.”

He continued, “We first started out with a four-inch strap on … and then a six inch. I’m happy to report that today, we are up to a full 10 inches. Our goal for the new year is 12 inches! Soon, I’ll be a power bottom!”

Pegging in pop culture

Pegging has had at least a few notable occurrences in pop culture.

Back in 2015, Broad City had an episode that dealt with pegging. After lusting over her next-door neighbor and longtime crush Jeremy, Abbi finally gets him in bed. She asks him to “switch positions,” which he misunderstands and quickly grabs a strap-on from his drawer. “Right in the butt,” he says, presenting his ass to her. But instead of being turned off by his pegging desires, Abbi decides to give it a shot, treating it as an opportunity to experiment. (Her best friend Ilana, by the way, is thrilled at Abbi’s openness.)

In 2016, Deadpool included a brief nod to the sexual act when they included pegging in a montage, when Deadpool and his girlfriend Vanessa fuck their way through the year. The best part of the montage has to be when the camera pans around from Wade’s slightly uncomfortable (but very turned-on) face to reveal Vanessa casually adjusting her strap-on.

“Happy International Women’s Day,” she whispers to him.
