Often when you find a news story involving an outlandish sexual thing in Asia, it’s little more than a desperate news outlet that has made up something outlandish, photoshopped a fake supporting image and then let it go viral, confident that Western readers won’t know enough Chinese or Korean to actually see whether it’s legitimately been reported elsewhere. But in the case of these penis-shaped waffles from Thailand, we’re proud to report they’re most definitely real.
Penis-shaped waffles are a corn dog-style street food consisting of fried batter surrounding a cheese-filled wiener. They come from a stand named Pho Hai Ma, which translates as “I Got It From My Dad.” It’s a popular Bangkok food stall run by a woman named Ketnita Prasertsomboon.
Prasertsomboon’s business started booming after travelers began posting photos of themselves eating her penis-shaped waffles on social media.
For a hint of the treat’s popularity, video of the penis-shaped waffles below has been watched nearly 20 million times since it was posted barely a week ago.

But penis-shaped waffles aren’t making everyone happy
Even though customers can enjoy these meaty, batter-dipped treats with ketchup, mayo (because of course) or strawberry, blueberry or chocolate sauce, not everyone is enjoying the phallic food fun.
A well-known local Thai chef named Yingsak Chonglertjetsadawong is encouraging the local community to boycott and pressure the popular food stand out of existence.
“Would you buy this for your parents?” Chonglertjetsadawong asked. “Would you put this in a monk’s alms bowl? If a girl aged 7 or 8 was eating it on the street, is that something you’d want to see?”
Considering the popularity of the penis-shaped waffles, Chonglertjetsadawong’s boycott campaign isn’t likely to work.
