A European design company called KA Design has decided to troll the hell out of the world by re-claiming the swastika — the ancient Asian spritual icon which became the symbol of Nazi oppression — in a series of badly designed apparel items featuring the swastika in rainbow colors alongside the words “peace” and “zen.”
The ploy seems to be nothing more than an attempt at attention-grabbing as KA Design has no website, a Facebook page with only one post on it (a video about their swastika gear, below) and a non-functioning online store.
KA Design claims to like the symbol’s shape and aesthetics and wants to “share the beauty of this symbol detached from the Hatred associated with it,” according to an interview with dazeddigital.com. They say their swastika clothing is the first step of their “master plan.”

When asked how they’d feel about Nazis buying and wearing their shirts, a representative from KA Design responded:
“We wouldn’t care…. We think the message on our apparel is clear: peace, love and freedom win over hatred, war and prejudice. If some kind of neo-Nazi goes out wearing our shirt, he will raise the same kind of questions and discussions as a communist wearing the same shirt.”
Needless to say, Nazis and neo-Nazis are rabidly anti-gay. They murdered their own openly gay leaders right before World War II, burned years of transgender research and killed countless numbers of openly LGBTQ people in their labor camps during the war.
Weirdly, this isn’t the first time that a fashion brand (real or not) has tried to reclaim the swastika. In 2014, artist and designer Sinjun Wessin tried to reclaim the symbol as a “feel good icon” in a line of Spiritual Punx t-shirts featuring the icon as a donut with pink icing and sprinkles.
