Rep. Brian Sims Has a Searing Welcome for Mike Pence: ‘Get Bent, Then Get Out’
Out Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Sims posted a ravenous welcome message for Mike Pence before he visited Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Pence arrived in Philadelphia around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday for a fundraiser at the Rittenhouse Hotel with the Republican Governors Association to support Pennsylvania’s Republican gubernatorial nominee, Scott Wagner, who has “claimed voting by non-citizens was a threat to fair elections.”
Rep. Brian Sims shared a post on his official Facebook page, featuring an image of the Pennsylvania House member personally flipping off the anti-LGBTQ VP.
The caption reads:
OFFICIAL WELCOME: Vice President Mike Pence let me be the first person to officially welcome you to the City of Brotherly Love, and to my District in the State House!
To be clear, we’re a City of soaring diversity. We believe in the power of all people to live and to contribute: Black, Brown, Queer, Trans, Atheist, Immigrant, we want you and we’ll respect you.
So keep that in mind while you’re here raising money to attack more families, spread more lies, blaspheme with your bible, and maybe even talk to a woman without your wife in the room. We have plenty of them, and they’re pretty much all more powerful and more real than you have ever been.
So…get bent, then get out!
We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves!
A report recently exposed Pence’s role in a string of quiet anti-LGBT actions taken by the Trump administration.
OFFICIAL WELCOME: Vice President Mike Pence let me be the first person to officially welcome you to the City of…
The Human Rights Campaign report, titled “The Real Mike Pence,” explains how Pence has flown under the radar in the Trump White House and begun “exploiting that alarming leadership void by quietly spearheading a charge to radically undermine the rights of LGBTQ people.”
It recaps his support for gay cure therapy, his unwillingness to condemn businesses who fire people for being gay and his signing of a controversial Indiana law that gave businesses the right to discriminate against gay people on the grounds of religion.
But it also covers his lesser known actions since Trump came to power, adding, “Shortly after taking office as vice president, it became clear that the anti-LGBTQ work done by Mike Pence in Indiana was a trial run for an attempt to inflict a license to discriminate on LGBTQ people throughout the United States.”
HRC President Chad Griffin said, “Mike Pence has made a career out of attacking the rights and equal dignity of LGBTQ people, women and other marginalized communities. Now as vice president, he poses one of the greatest threats to equality in the history of our movement.”
“With the world distracted by Donald Trump’s scandal-ridden White House, Mike Pence’s nefarious agenda has been allowed to fly under the radar for too long. He has become not only the most powerful vice president in American history, but also the least scrutinized. No more.”
“With this comprehensive new report, HRC is exposing the extent of Pence’s extremism, the threat he poses to equality and all that we’re doing to combat his hateful agenda.”
