Legendary drag mother RuPaul Charles just announced on Hollywood Today Live, gay comedian Ross Mathews talk show, that he is married to Wyoming rancher Georges LeBar, his partner of 23 years. The two met in 1994 on the dance floor of a now-defunct New York City club called The Limelight and married earlier this year during their 23rd anniversary.

Here’s a clip of RuPaul spilling the news:

In a 2015 interview, RuPaul had suggested that he and LeBar might not ever wed:

“He’s so kind and funny,” says RuPaul. “I remember praying, ‘I want a sweet, sensitive man,’ and I got an Australian who’s just lovely.” Will they marry?

“No, I don’t stand on ceremony, I never want to conform to anything. We looked into it if we could get a tax break and stuff but not because… Is he devoted to me? Am I devoted to him? Oh, hell yes. [But] I never want to be like everybody else.”

RuPaul apparently changed his mind. “We were looking into it really for tax breaks and financial things,” he explained. Between RuPaul’s drag empire and LeBar’s 60,000 acre ranch, there’s probably lots of financial things to sort out, but all the same, condragulations to the newlywed couple!

Now let’s celebrate with five pics of them together in their earlier and more recent years!
