On Tuesday night, the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 gathered in New York City for a very special event introducing their creativity, uniqueness, nerve and talent to the world. Thankfully for us, photographer Wilsonmodels was there to capture all the craziness.

Premiering March 24 on VH1, RuPaul’s Drag Race returns to our television sets looking to engage a more mainstream audience than ever before. The gig is a whole lot bigger this year. So much so, even RuPaul was there last night to promote the new season.

Mother Ru showed up to say some words, introducing the first episode and thanking the audience for their support. “We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all of you,” she earnestly said. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys have made the show the success it is today.”

She then turned to much more light hearted affairs, ribbing her long time best friend Lady Bunny who DJ’d the evening. “We got Lady Gaga on the first episode! We tried to get Lady Bunny but she turned us down,” she laughed. “Lady Bunny, you are a whore.”

The first episode revealed that Lady Gaga makes an epic work room entrance, playing a trick on the other queens pretending to be a contestant on the show.

After that epic moment, we are really looking forward to seeing what else RuPaul and the good people over at World of Wonder have up their sleeves. Some of the performances given by the girls were extremely impressive, so we’re sure there will be some stiff competition all season long.

We aren’t sure where we will be watching Friday, March 24 – but we know we will be tuning into VH1 for sure.
