22 RuPaul’s DragCon Pics That’ll Make You Wish You Were There
RuPaul’s DragCon returned for a third year to Los Angeles, April 29 and 30. The weekend-long event was jam-packed with incredible programming, including performances, meet-and-greets, panels, a family zone and more.
“The expressions of love, family and imagination that flooded the L.A. Convention Center this past weekend made RuPaul’s DragCon the happiest and most fabulous place on earth,” says Randy Barbato, World of Wonder co-founder.
“At RuPaul’s DragCon, we celebrate all the colors of the rainbow,” says RuPaul. “We have an orange president that wraps himself in red, white and blue. How are you going to make America great again if you can’t love all the colors of the rainbow?“
The weekend culminated with RuPaul’s keynote address, where he imparted his signature wisdom and steps in the process of loving yourself.
“You are an extension of the power that created the whole universe,” RuPaul said. “The only thing keeping you from that is you playing small.”
“Know that you being here is not an accident,” he added. “You are here to experience life and humanity, and that is the joy of life. That is what loving yourself is — understanding what your purpose is, what your own unique voice is.”
Also during his Sunday keynote, RuPaul made a very special announcement: the inaugural RuPaul’s DragCon NYC. The event will be held Sept. 30th and Oct. 1 in New York City.
“We’re excited to bring DragCon to NYC, where our queens will prance proudly in the city of Stonewall, under the watchful eye of the fiercest queen of all, Lady Liberty,” World of Wonder co-founder Fenton Bailey adds.
