If you lived through the ‘80s you probably know Sade (pronounced shah-day); she’s one of the most successful female singers of all time who is probably best known for her 1984 song “Smooth Operator”. In fact, it’s so silky and jazzy, let’s listen to it right now (warning, it may make you want to dim the lights and seduce a woman).

Many folks know Sade (full name Helen Folasade Adu), but not many people know about her child. His name is Mickailia Ila Adu and during last year’s National Coming Out Day, he came out as a transgender man.

It seems like Sade has been supportive because yesterday he wrote her a touching Instagram note marking her 58th birthday. The photo showed both of them holding each other, and the note read:

“To my Queen. Words cannot describe how lucky I am to have you in my life and call you Mumma, you are my whole world and I love you with all my heart, thank you for being you, the most beautiful person inside and out, happy birthday Mumma Shard”

The mother and son live in in England.
