The Statue of Liberty ‘Went on Strike’ for International Women’s Day By Going Dark
Thousands of women across the world are celebrating International Women’s Day with an International Women’s Strike and one of those women may be the Statue of Liberty,
Just two hours before International Women’s Day began, the Statue of Liberty’s lights went out. How coincidental is that?
Raymond Braun had a fantastic tweet about the whole thing:
CNN has just reported that the Statue of Liberty has gone dark tonight.
Power failure or social commentary? ?

We like to think she went on strike against the violence, economic exploitation and reproductive coercion that women face all over the world. And also because Donald Trump is a raving lunatic. But it’s actually because of some Hurricane Sandy recovery project work.
Some lights on the Statue were temporarily off tonight. Likely related to new emergency generator/Hurricane Sandy recovery project work.

It’s still a great story for the children.
