Stormy Daniels is set to be honored in a ceremony in West Hollywood on Wednesday, May 23. During that celebration, she will be given a key to the city and Mayor John Duran will officially proclaim May 23 as “Stormy Daniels Day” in West Hollywood.
The adult film star, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is currently in the middle of a lawsuit battling Trump and his attorney Michael Cohen in hopes of being freed from a non-disclosure agreement she signed just before the 2016 presidential election.
“In these politically tumultuous times, Daniels has proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation,” the city said in a statement announcing Stormy Daniels Day.
“The Trump administration has been a direct threat to the people of the city of West Hollywood — our LGBTQ community, our immigrant community, women here in this community — so Stormy Daniels has really showed up as the woman to save the Republic,” Duran says.
WeHo resident Cheryl Diaz adds, “This is a renegade city, it’s a rebel city, it’s a creative city, it’s an accepting city. So yeah, she is a perfect fit for West Hollywood.”
At 4 p.m. the ceremony will commence honoring Stormy Daniels. At 7 p.m. she will sign autographs and meet fans inside Chi Chi LaRue’s store at 8861 Santa Monica Boulevard. Then later that evening, at 10 p.m., she will be holding another meet-and-greet at popular area bar The Abbey.
“I’m so excited about Stormy appearing at the store,” Chi Chi LaRue tells Hornet. “When she offered to do it with her #TeamStormy Crew, it just exploded from there. She FaceTimed me last night and we giggled like two school girls! I’m so impressed by her!”
But not everyone is so excited that the LGBT enclave of West Hollywood is celebrating the controversial porn star. “They need to deal with the issues that affect this town, instead of grandstanding their hatred of Trump, their hatred of the Republicans,” resident Ed Andersen told ABC 7.
Protestors of Stormy Daniels Day are expected to show up Wednesday as well.
