Telenovela Actor Leonardo Vieira Speaks Out About Homophobia

Brazilian telenovela actor Leonardo Vieira, known for his roles in RenascerCaminhos do Coração and Senhora do Destino, sent a letter to the press speaking out about homophobia.

The seasoned soap star was outed after a photo of him kissing a friend at a party went viral.

Vieira’s letter read, “I never felt like a criminal or to blame for being homosexual… the fact of being gay never hurt anyone, if anything it hurt myself.”

He also stated that since the photo went viral he’s been the victim of homophobic cyberattacks, which he has reported to the authorities.
