We’ve heard that HBO’s The Deuce is the best new show on television. And after seeing these stills featuring some of the show’s hot actors naked, we can clearly see why.

The Deuce is set around Times Square, New York City in the early ’70s. The series tells the story of the legalization and ensuing rise of the porn industry during that time. Themes explored include the violence of the drug epidemic and the resulting real estate booms and busts that coincided with the change. The show’s title comes from the nickname for 42nd Street between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue.

The show features James Franco (who plays twins) and Maggie Gyllenhaal as the show’s leads. Franco has yet to go full-frontal, but he has showed his rear end quite a few times. Many of the other actors on the show have gotten fully nude, including Cameron Cowperthwaite and John Paul Harkins. Check out pics from a recent sex scene here.

Asked by Vulture as to why he’s so drawn to stories of pornography and prostitution, Franco responded, “I would say with The Deuce, what I love is that David Simon and George Pelecanos are behind this, and that what they want to do with the subject matter is use it as a tool to explore larger issues of capitalism, misogyny, the way that people are bought and sold, and that we’re all implicated. We want to push this kind of thing to the side and say, oh, I don’t do that. But look at the numbers on the internet. The numbers of people that watch pornography are huge! But we try to keep it in the shadows.”

HBO has already renewed the series for a second season, so hopefully we see some more ’70s vintage schlong for years to come.
