It’s Steven Universe Week at Unicorn Booty, so all week long we’ll be exploring the artists, fans and creative aspects that make it the most progressive cartoon in history!

One of the greatest things about Steven Universe is how most of the Crewniverse (ie. Steven Universe creators) are active on Tumblr. To help promote the episodes, show storyboarders often will draw a promo image — usually a clear reference to the episode, but sometimes it’s more subtle.

Some of the best drawings, however, come from Hilary Florido. For the episodes she storyboards with Katie Mitroff, the promo art is usually a scene from an alternate manga-inspired universe where the Crystal Gems are all in a Japanese high school where Steven serves as the principal.

There’s generally no narrative between the promo images, but it’s fun to look at the characters we know and love in a completely different universe. Here’s the complete run of them, so far:

Of course, to keep tabs on the ongoing adventures of the school alternate universe, be sure to follow Hilary on Tumblr, and check out her other, non-Steven Universe art there too.
