You may recall trans comedian Patti Harrison from a short appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show following Trump’s announcement of his trans military ban.
“Now Jimmy, I’m a transgender woman, and as a trans person, it’s hard to articulate exactly how I feel,” she said to Fallon in a monologue at the start of the show. “But I guess if I had to describe it, I’d say, ‘Donald, you’re so stupid. You are soooooo stupid. You’re lucky you’re so hot.”
After which no one in the audience — nor Fallon himself — could keep a straight face.
Harrison had a few more zingers that night, including this one: “I don’t think Trump even knows what ‘transgender’ means. He probably thinks transgender people are those cars that turn into robots.” And “Trump says transgender people in the military would be a tremendous disruption. And I get it. If you constantly draw attention to yourself, spend all day distracting everyone and cost taxpayers millions of dollars, the perfect job for you isn’t the military. It’s the president of the United States.”

But Harrison is making headlines once again, thanks to a glowing profile piece by Rolling Stone. The piece calls her “the trans comedian making fart jokes an act of resistance,” which in our opinion obscures the rather brilliant comedy she’s known for.
In a word, her comedy can best be described as absurdist.
“I love to create very dumb and stupid shit,” Harrison told Rolling Stone. “And that’s the funny thing — when people seek me out as this like political comedian, I literally just want to joke about IBS and farting.”
Even if you didn’t catch Harrison on Fallon (though surely you’ve watched the above clip by now, right?) and haven’t seen her brilliant series on YouTube called “Patti Reviews Exotic Animals” (we’ve got some of those down below), you’re gonna soon be seeing a lot more of her.
Not only does she have a recurring role on the second season of TBS series Search Party and a small part in the upcoming film A Simple Favor (directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig), but she’ll soon be on the current season of Broad City as well. We couldn’t be more excited!
So before trans comedian Patti Harrison blows up and is everywhere, get acquainted with her completely nuts sense of humor by watching a few of her Patti Reviews vids. You won’t regret it.
In this one, Patti gets upset with a flamingo. In her defense, it does have pretty bad dandruff.
In this one, “Nature Nick” brings a Patagonian Cavy onto the show, though Patti gets it confused with Sofia Vergara — and forces him to do an impersonation of Leann Rimes.
In this episode of Convers(at)ion Therapy, she sits down with comedian Lena Einbinder. They discuss dating as a gender-nonconforming person, red flags and the age-old question of whether playing foosball can turn you into a transgender person.
