Tyra Sanchez went on social media yet again to threaten violence against RuPaul’s DragCon, the annual drag convention taking place in Los Angeles from May 11 to May 13. The second DragCon threat was made on Sanchez’s Facebook page, as well as at an event earlier this week.
“Second Warning: DO NOT attend RuPaul’s DragCon on May 12, 2018. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’d hate to say I told you so,” she said on Facebook on Monday.
However, we’ve also heard that she is threatening for something ominous to happen at another time, too. A source who asked to remain anonymous told us that Sanchez was at an event earlier this week telling people out of drag they shouldn’t be at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m..
“She said she won’t confirm or deny that anything will happen, but warned to not be there Friday at 4:00,” the source tells us.
On April 23, Sanchez published a menacing status update to her Facebook page that resembled a threat: “Fair warning: DO NOT attend RuPaul’s DragCon on May 12, 2018. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
That DragCon threat came two weeks after officials banned her from the L.A. convention after she threatened to harm fellow queens Phi Phi O’Hara and Tatianna.
Jinkx Monsoon shared her disappointment through a statement on Twitter. “Queer people already have limited safe spaces – and we have fought hard to get to this place where we have a weekend to celebrate drag and the LGBTQAI+ community,” she said. “I don’t know how to explain how upset I am that someone from within is threatening that and trying to scare us away.”
She continued:, “I hope this person receives guidance out of this dark place they’re in. We’ve always been friends and I am trying to maintain empathy and compassion while they threaten the community I’ve sworn to protect — but nothing excuses these scare tactics in today’s climate.”
