Horrifying Video Shows Car Driving Into the Crowd of ‘Unite the Right’ Counter Protestors
Video has just surfaced of a gray vehicle driving into the crowd of counter “Unite the Right” Rally protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia. The incident happened around 1:30 pm Eastern time Saturday.
A car hit at least five pedestrians on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville near Urban Outfitters, according to media reports and police reports. New reports say as many as nine people may have been injured. A Daily Progress reporter at the scene said the car was pulled over by police. An emergency alert reported that several had broken legs.
City officials released the following statement at 2:18 pm:
“Charlottesville Police and Virginia State Police are on the scene of a three vehicle accident at Water and 4th Streets in Downtown Charlottesville. Multiple injuries are reported. People should clear the area to allow emergency medical personnel to respond. We will release more information as we are able.”
Violence erupted last night and early this morning at the University of Virginia where Neo-Nazi demonstrators and counter-protesters clashed, causing the city of Charlottesville to declare a state of emergency.
Protests and riots haven’t stopped, as police forces and military personal are struggling to control the crowds.
