On the Dec. 1 episode of The View, in honor of World AIDS Day (for which we support the change to World HIV Day), Whoopi Goldberg’s fellow panel members surprised the famed actress and activist with a video honoring her hard work to defeat HIV/AIDS.

Before the video plays, Goldberg recounts how her fight against the virus began, during her Berkeley and San Francisco days. She then recounts meeting Elizabeth Taylor, who helped Goldberg truly focus her efforts into defeating the pandemic. Taylor went on to create the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991.

The video features special sentiments from fellow foundation surrogates—Colin Farrell, Lionel Richie and Elton John, plus Taylor’s grandson Quinn Tivey.

Whoopi breaks down.

You’ll break down.
