What is Video Chat?

Video Chat is a feature that allows one user on Hornet to connect through a video chat with another user on Hornet. The camera and microphone can be enabled or disabled for Hornet Video Chat.

How do I use Video Chat?

To video chat with another user on Hornet, open a chat with them and tap the video camera icon in the top right corner of the chat screen.

Who can I video chat with?

You can only video chat with users you have previously chatted with. This means you need to send at least one message to that user and receive at least one message from that user before initiating a video chat.

Is it safe to use Video Chat on Hornet?

We strive to make using the video chat feature as safe as possible:

  • No screen recordings or screenshots are possible during video chat.
  • No moderation of video chats. One-on-one video chats are completely private between you and the other user. Hornet does not moderate video chats in any way.

How can I ensure that users I don’t want to video chat with will not bother me?

  1. Only users who have previously chatted with each other and exchanged messages can video chat with each other.
  2. If you want to prevent a specific user from video chatting with you, open their profile, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and choose “Block video chats from…”
  3. If you want to block video chats from everyone, please follow these instructions:
    • Go to Profile Settings (three dots in the upper right corner of your profile page)
    • In the menu select Video Chat
    • Turn on Block all incoming video chats function

How can I block a specific user so that they cannot make video chat to me?

If you want to restrict a specific user from starting video chat with you, please follow these instructions:

  • Go to that person’s Profile
  • In the upper right corner of the profile, click on the Three Dots
  • In the menu select Block video calls from…

How can I unblock a specific user so that they can video chat me again?

If you want to restore the ability for a specific user to start video chat with you, please follow these instructions:

  • Go to Profile Settings (three dots in the upper right corner of your profile page)
  • In the menu select Video Chat
  • On the next page select List of blocked users
  • The next window will open a list with all the users to whom you previously restricted the ability to make video chats with you.
  • Find that user in the list, click on them and select Unblock in the pop-up window
