Even though he recently came out as bisexual, Aaron Carter just revealed he’s not interested in dating men. I doubt gay men anywhere are really upset by this news.

“I’ve been hearing a lot of negativity too… like prejudice and slurs, and remarks that I don’t deserve,” the 29-year-old pop star told TMZ. “I want to pursue a relationship with a woman.”

The singer continued: “When it comes down to it, really, I had an experience when I was 17 with a guy, but now as an almost 30-year-old man, I’m going to be pursuing relationships with women.”

Later that same day, TMZ found Carter out on a date with his girlfriend Porcelain Black, an up-and-coming pop singer.

When asked about his bisexuality, Carter responds: “I’m still getting my dick sucked.”

Carter came to fame as a child pop star during the late ’90s and early 2000s. He is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys alum Nick Carter and has previously dated two famous actresses and singers: Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan.

After stating his love for all of his fans, Carter wrote: “There’s something I’d like to say that I feel is important for myself and my identity that has been weighing on my chest for nearly half of my life. This doesn’t bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off me.”

He then said that at age 13 he “started to find boys and girls attractive.” He started dating girls at age 17, but after a few relationships, he said he had “an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”

I’m a huge supporter of the bisexual community. The more awareness and visibility about bisexuality out there, the better. The B in LGBT is often silenced, and there is still a lot of bi-phobia in the gay community and the straight community.

However, I’m not sure Aaron Carter is a representative for this group. His recent words are problematic, and they can’t help but make me wonder if he’s just doing all of this for the notoriety. And does one sexual encounter at the age of 17 make anyone gay, straight or bi?

Zachary Zane wrote for us that while he still labels himself as bisexual, he may never date a women again for the rest of his life. Men like Zane and Carter can be bisexual, understanding they may only date one sex from here on out. I just don’t think those are Carter’s true intentions with any of this.

Earlier this morning, Page Six reported that a notorious Hollywood publicist may behind Carter’s recent drama. This gives me one more reason to suspect that Carter is just trying to use the LGBT community for some press.

What do you think of Carter’s latest comments?
