The MTV Video Music Awards took place at Radio City Music Hall last night. The VMAs are a much more casual affair than other award shows, so there are no rules when it comes to dressing for the red carpet. And this year, the stars didn’t disappoint — so we thought we’d count down our 20 favorite looks from this year’s VMAs.

The 20 Best Looks From the 2018 MTV VMAs

20. PrettyMuch

First the Teen Choice Awards, and now the VMAs; this boyband is everywhere this summer rocking colorful streetwear.

19. Marshmello

Marshmello didn’t get our attention with his sneakers: the Air Force 1 by Virgil Abloh. It was his mask that grabbed our eyes.

18. Amara La Negra

The make-up, the dress and the hair. We live for moments like this.

17. Nico Tortorella

Nothing matched on Nico, but the look worked. The scruffy actor always has a unique take on fashion.

16. Amber Rose

She didn’t get any nominations, but Amber Rose won the most outrageous red carpet look in this Catwoman-inspired ensemble.

15. Liam Payne

The outfit might look simple, but Liam’s tats won the best accessory award.

14. Bryce Vine

The print-on-print look worked well on Bryce, the YouTube star and “Drew Barrymore” singer.

13. Asher Angel

With a sophisticated yet youthful textured-print Dior suit, Asher Angel gave us high fashion on the red carpet this year.

12. Cardi B

Rocking a new fierce hairdo, Cardi B gave us hot mama realness in this stunning low-cut velvet dress.

11. Teyana Taylor

Teyana’s abs were the highlight of this red carpet look and they deserved an award of their own.

10. Nyle DiMarco

The America’s Next Top Model winner looks fantastic in anything, but especially in this dreamy blue sports jacket.

9. Iggy Azalea

She is back! Iggy Azalea rocked the red carpet with awesome leather boots.

8. Sza

Sza looked dreamy in this pink cotton candy-inspired dress.

7. Sophia Carson

The “Rumor” singer showed us how to look like a princess in this empire-waist Grecian dress by Carolina Herrera.

6. Tiffany Haddish

Regal, elegant and classy.

5. Rita Ora

We dig this barely-there dress from red carpet regular Rita Ora.

4. Shawn Mendes

This two-tone double-breasted suit was traditional menswear with a contemporary touch.

3. Camila Cabello

The big winner from last night’s VMAs, Camila Cabello gave us a heavenly twirl in this Oscar de La Renta ball gown.

2. Maluma

Already a massive star in Latin America, Maluma wowed us with his rugged looks in this white double-breasted suit.

And the number one most memorable VMAs red carpet look is: Jennifer Lopez

Leave it to a professional like J. Lo, this is how to turn up the red carpet game and slay at an award show.
